Artist: Metallica
Title: And Justice For All
Format: Vinyl LP
Metallica's fourth studio album was the thrash metal band's commercial breakthrough. 1998's And Justice For All was the group's first album to reach the Top 10 (No. 6), first to earn a Top 40 hit single ("One"), first to receive a Grammy nomination (in fact, in the first year for the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category), first to win a Grammy (two years later for "One") and first to spin off a music video. For many music fans, their first exposure to Metallica was that video for "One," which in 1999 was voted among MTV's Top 100 Videos Of All Time. The group's first studio album since the death of bassist Cliff Burton, And Justice For All went platinum within nine weeks and today is certified eight times platinum in the U.S., making the album Metallica's second biggest seller, bested only by the self-titled album that followed.
